February 2013 Athlete of the Month
Bruce Perry Jr.
16-year-old Bruce Perry Jr. has been a competitive mogul skier since he fell in love with the sport at the age of five. His father was a former pro mogul skier who inspired him to follow this path. Bruce competed in the Devo competition tour his first year, and his progression led him to win every Devo competition at age eleven. He then moved up to the Rocky Mountain Division (RMD) when he was twelve and his success at that level is what turned his mindset to dedicate his life towards the goal of mogul skiing in the Olympics someday. Last year was his sixth year of competition in the RMD and Bruce was awarded the J2 National Champion. He is currently the #1 ranked Junior Mogul skier in the country. He qualified for NorAm last year. He was also runner up for Rookie of the Year; being the youngest competitor to compete/qualify for the tour. His current goal is to win the NorAm tour this year and qualify for World Cup starts so he can be on the US Ski Team. Bruce says, “Every year I train harder and harder so I can achieve the biggest dream of my life.”
