September 2013 Athlete of the Month
37-year-old Tony Lannacito, a Colorado native, entered his first mountain bike race in 2003 on a 4-man recreational team at 24 Hours of Moab. He owned no real cycling clothing or really understood what he was committing to. In 2005 he was the Mountain Bike State Champion for Expert CAT 1 Men between 25-29 and the next year he was racing semi-pro. In 2009 he went Pro. Tony is always looking for the steepest thing to ride his bike up, especially at high altitude. His most recent accomplishment was placing second at the 2013 Annual Bob Cook Memorial/Mt. Evans Hill Climb in 35+ CAT 3. Tony has a passion for all things bike related and if he is not commuting to work on his bike he is probably competing or training. He competes in mountain biking both on gears and a single speed, and on his road bike. He’s really looking forward to this coming Fall and single speed cyclocross!
